WESTON, W.Va. — Robert “Bob” Lester Ramsey, 92, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at Autumn Lake Healthcare in Elkins, where he had resided for the past 2 years.
He was born in Weston November 4, 1931, a son of the late George Newton Ramsey and the late Mary Blanche Taylor Ramsey.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been preceded in death by his parents; one son, Robert Allen Ramsey; one sister, Rena; and two brothers: Dana and Roscoe.
He was thrice married, first, to the late Della Jean McCartney Ramsey, second, to the late Shirley Adams Ramsey, and third, to Margaret Metzgar Ramsey, who survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Beverly Turner of Elkins; and four step-sons: Mike, Jeff, and Steve Adams, and Mike Metzgar of PA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Bob graduated from Weston High School, Clarksburg Business College, and served 3 years in the United States Army. He started working in the insurance business with his uncle Roy and after Roy’s passing, Bob started his own business, Robert L. Ramsey Insurance Agency which he operated until his retirement.
Bob loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed many trips to Canada. He was a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church in Weston.
Bob’s request for Cremation with no services has been honored at Pat Boyle Funeral Home’s On-Site Crematory. A Private Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.
